GLASGOW scored three first-half tries but were then swept away by a rampant Ulster in the second-half at Kingspan.

“In the second-half we struggled a lot more and Ulster put pressure on us and kept the ball really well so we had to defend for most of the half and that’s reflected in the scoreline.”

Glasgow created the first scoring chance on nine minutes, when centre Nick Grigg went close before breaking the the deadlock on 14 minutes following good work from the pack.

Ulster hit back with a try six minutes later when Gilroy scored in the corner, but Ratu Tagive’s effort restored Glasgow’s lead.

Glasgow continued to impress in the first-half and their third try came nine minutes from the break when flanker Matt Smith barged over. But Ulster finished the half strongly and tries from Greg Jones and Gilroy reduced Glasgow’s lead to 19-17.

Ulster went back in front on 55 minutes when Angus Kernohan crossed. Chris Fusaro was yellow carded for killing the ball and Ulster scored two quick tries from Ethan McIlroy and Sam Carter – both on their debuts.
