Bridge in smoother waters as Lucs fade

- By GEOFF VICKRESS

STOURBRIDGE gave little else away after conceding two early scores to Luctonians.

Mike Cheasley crashed over after only two minutes after good work from Josh Watkins and Frank Kelly.

And the home crowd were getting very excited when Kelly added a second, converted by Will Burton with only five minutes on the clock.

But that was as good as it got as the Bridge pack dominated for most of the first half giving ample opportunities for their back line.

Lucs defended stubbornly, but the ever-alert Joe Heatley side-stepped through for the first of his two scores, before Joe Collingham somehow found a way through.

With Heatley scoring again from close in and Chris Scott converting, they led 19-12 at half time.

Seb Robinson-Hall scored for Lucs when he squirrelled over after the break, with Burton converting, to level the points.

But it was short-lived as Bridge ran in four tries without reply in the last 20

minutes against a Lucs side who were guilty of errors that their visitors were quick to capitalise on.

Jack Lea bundled over, followed by Dan Rundle with the try of the game after an excellent passing move.

George Morgan and Haisla Afeafe added to the try count, Scott converting five for a ten-point haul.

It was a strong and positive result for Stourbridge who will be keen push on from two early-season victories.

Luctonians will dust themselves down and look to collect points away on the road next week at Hinckley.
