Murphy double as Barnstaple share top

- South West Premier

BARNSTAPLE made it three wins on the bounce, with kicker Jake Murphy scoring two tries as his side continued their faultless run.

This week they dismantled Camborne, while Weston-super-Mare are also joint leaders on points after recording a third win from four games.

Barnstaple took an early lead through two Murphy penalties, before he scored and converted the opening try. Camborne replied before the break with Declan Matthews crossing and Rhys Bromfield converting to bring them back to 20-13 at the break.

Kicker Murphy restored the lead by converting his own try, before further scores from Brendon Darly, Luke Berry and Winston James completed the 44-13 win. Weston-super-Mare

remain hot on the heels of the leaders after recording a 17-8 victory over Drybrook. Meanwhile, Maidenhead dropped points as

they were beaten in a 33-36 thriller against Ivybridge.

The hosts looked like continuing their early season form when Chris Campbell ran over for the opening try.

However, Ivybridge responded in style with Charlie Briant, Ben Watts and Jay Geraty all crossing the tryline as they took a 21-5 lead.

Joe Parkin began the Maids fightback with a second try, before Elio Mandozzi drove over and then Andy Berry put them 26-21 ahead at the break.

Ivybridge responded once again, with Will Lamont securing the bonus-point try, before Tom Scholes ran over for an interception score, which turned out to be the winner.

At the opposite end of the table, Bracknell picked up their first win of the campaign with a morale-boosting 41-9 win over Brixham.

Elliott Bellman cancelled out an early penalty to put the hosts ahead, before Simon Bayliss, Kieran Forbes and Nick Owen were among the tryscorers as they collected a much-needed victory.

After picking up a host of bonus points in recent weeks, Newbury Blues also picked up their first win of the season as they beat Exmouth 25-15.

James Macaulay, Joshua Bartlett and Dylan Stewart all crossed for the Blues.

Finally, Okehampton beat Exeter University

35-21 at home thanks to scores by Dan Fogerty, Nash Patrick, Tom McGrattan and Liam Sampson.
