Brooks brothers help Bony to another bonus
Welsh Division One round-up
BONYMAEN continued their perfect start in One West Central with a 26-0 bonus win over previously unbeaten Brynamman at Parc Mawr. Rhys Leonard bagged a brace while there was a try each for brothers Dan and Nathan Brooks.
Bony are the only side in the division to have picked up maximum points from their first three matches with Stu Allen’s side a point above Kenfig Hill – who were thumping 44-6 winners at Ammanford.
Next up for Bonymaen is a home clash with Tondu next Saturday, the first of two meetings in seven days between the two having also been paired in the second round of the National Plate.
Tondu will take confidence into that double header after getting off the mark with a 26-10 home win over Skewen. Ben Thomas, Matthew Davies, Stefan Jones and Sam Grabham were the Waterwheelers’ try scorers. The visitors’ try was scored by Chris Grimes which was converted by Anthony Buselli who also booted a penalty but it was mere consolation for Skewen who are bottom and yet to register a point.
The big top of the table clash in One East went the way of champions Brecon who came out on top 36-27 at
Penallta. Jake Crockett and Lewys Cooke both touched down twice for Andy Powell’s men with Ryan Price grabbing the other try.
Brecon now lead the way by two points from Newbridge who also made it three from three as they ran out convincing 47-19 victors at Dowlais.
In One East Central, Treorchy and Rhydyfelin are level at the top on 13 points after both maintained their 100 per cent winning starts.
The Zebras narrowly came out on top against St
Peters 18-17 while the Village edged a low scoring contest at Cambrian Welfare 8-5.
One West pace setters
Felinfoel and Newcastle Emlyn enjoyed wins on the road at Crymych and
Whitland respectively while three sides – Ruthin, Pwllheli and champions
Llandundo – are now all three from three in One North.
