Bournville wrap it up with try avalanche

-

BOURNVILLE remain the only unbeaten side in a highly-competitive division following their 64-17 victory over struggling Doncaster Phoenix.

The Birmingham side ran in ten tries, including doubles from Alex Groves, Zane Raimondi, Paul Cox and Umraan Jadwat to put Doncaster to the sword.

The hosts wrapped up the win with further scores from Kurtis Payne and Tom Burrows.

Phoenix, who now sit only six points clear of the bottom, had Mitch Ashman cross for two tries of his own as well as one for Josh Winter but it was not enough. Nuneaton’s big 43-8

win at Peterborough Lions was enough to lift them into the top four.

The seven-try display included a Jackson Hughes double, with Ada Stauvers, Dylan Bale, Tom Smitham, Tarik Tin and Ben Cooper all crossing, too.

Peterborough's only try came from Jack Lewis and the Lions are now languishing down in 13th and struggling.

Sheffield defeated Kettering 45-14 to go up to third and keep the gap at the top at just six points.

This was despite some early resistance from Josh Plowright and Damian Conyard ,who both went over for a try.

Sheffield’s dominance up front proved too much, however, and they flourished in the back line.

Tries came from Matt Adcock, Nick Marshall, Steve Depledge, Angus Hughes, Lewis Bowman, Sean Casey and George Castleside. Will Hodgson added the extras.

Bromsgrove picked up just their third win of the season with a close battle at Broadstreet.

Tries before half-time for both Drew Harper and Jack Tharme proved enough to seal the 17-7 win.

Elsewhere, Paviors romped to a 120-0 victory away to struggling South Leicester, who remain at the foot of the table with a jaw-dropping pointsagainst total.

The win pushes Paviors within ten points of the top spot.

Bridgnorth defeated Burton 55-19, with the pick of their tries coming from Jordan Burgess and George Newman. They now sit in sixth.

Sandbach’s impressive run of form continued as they defeated Newport Salop 23-22 in a thrilling encounter.

Three tries from the visitors were not enough for them to overhaul Dan Stubbs’s men.

Sandbach now rise to second while Newport drop to fifth.
