Hinckley ........ 36 Huddersfield 33

- By STEFFAN JAMES

A LAST-MINUTE winner ensured Hinckley took all five points against a very good and powerful Huddersfield side.

They got off to the perfect start with a converted try from scrum-half Ben Pointon.

Ten minutes later, Hinckley extended their lead to 14-0, through hooker Dale Bowyer.

However, Huddersfield were awarded a penalty try when a collapsed maul by Hinckley left the referee with no option but to go under the posts and award the Yorkshire side their first try of the game.

Flanker Lewis Bradley then scored Huddersfield’s second to bring the scores level.

A break from the base of the scrum llowed Bradley to cross.

Just before half-time, Hinckley were awarded a penalty when Huddersfield failed to roll away from the breakdown.

Tom Wheatcroft took the three points to ensure the home side went into the lead at half time.

15 minutes into the second half, Huddersfield

took the lead with a try from captain Dickie Piper.

However, the lead was short-lived as Alex Salt crossed for Hinckley to give them a 24-19 lead with just under 20 minutes remaining.

With 13 minutes left, though, Field regained the lead with a try from outside centre Elliott Munnelly.

However, Hinckley then gained the advantage seven minutes from time with a try through No.8 Oliver Ashworth.

Three minutes from time and Huddersfield thought they’d won it whenBradley crossed for his second try of the game.

However, Hinckley had other ideas as winger Callum Dacey crossed with the last play of the game to seal a nerve-jangling win.
