Bournville win big as Sheffield go bigger

-

Midlands Premier

BOURNVILLE kept their place at the very top of the Midlands Premier table following a resounding 6429 win over a resistant Paviors.

A try from prolific scorer Tom Burrows got them underway with Mark Coulson, James Burgoyne and Tom Holliday added to the tally before half-time.

The dominant forwards display then saw Umraan Jadwat crossing the whitewash in the second half.

The visitors did show some resistance through five tries of their own.

Jonty Green, Phil Eggleshaw, Kieron Wells, Alex Barton and Josh Hall all scored, but it still wasn’t enough to keep the hosts from running away with the result.

The losing try bonus point keeps Paviors in eighth whilst the league leaders have now only dropped an astonishing two points in their opening ten fixtures.

Bridgnorth are still ten points off the top of the table following their impressive 34-0 victory at home to luckless

Nuneaton.

A Will Bishop brace set the hosts up nicely for what was their seventh victory of the season and this was complemented by further scores from Jake Joulson, George Bauvma and Luis Evitts.

The Nuns couldn’t get a foothold in the game and as a result slip to seventh.

Sheffield kept up their chase on Bournville with an 11-try rout over Peterborough in their 71-0 victory.

A 21-point haul from

Will Hodgson was the highlight, alongside Nick Marshall’s brace.

The Lions, who sit at the bottom of the pile, couldn’t get into the game and the hosts pulled further away, the pick of their tries coming via Sean Casey, Matt Adcock and Tom Womack.

Kai Ramrattan, Mike Bradford, Steve Depledge, Dave Clayden and Angus Hughes further added to the dismantling of the visitors. Meanwhile Bromsgrove picked up another bonus-point win as they defeated Kettering 48-12.

Thomas Sadler claimed a hat-trick while Jamie Atkin, Hugh Lockhart and Ross Attwood also added to the scoresheet. Elsewhere, Newport Salop won a thriller at

Broadstreet, running out 40-33 winners in a lungbusting match.

There was another wellcontested affair in Staffordshire, Doncaster

Phoenix winning a narrow contest at Burton, 29-22. Finally, South Leicester's game against Sandbach was called off due to player shortages.
