Rochford and Guernsey level pegging

GUERNSEY maintained their place at the top of the table following a bonus try 43-3 win at home to Bedford Athletic.

Joe Andresen crossed for a hat-trick, Doug Horrocks bagged two with Matt Armstrong and Luke Sayer in for one apiece, and Owen Thomas scored four conversion­s.

Rochford Hundred are still in second albeit on points difference only after beating CS Stags 47-5 at Dukes Meadows.

It was 21-5 at the interval through tries from Chris Shields, Mark Billings and Adam Ferrier all converted by Cameron Greenhall, Stags’ try coming from Ricky Holamby.

In the second period the visitors added four more tries, a second for Ferrier with Ricky Gold, Todd Bailey and Lewis Brunger claiming one each, Greenhall adding three more conversion­s.

Hertford moved up to fourth following a 25-12 win at home to Sidcup.

Charlie Parkhouse bagged a hattrick with Dave Archer and Christy Basra in for one each.

For Sidcup James Stanford and James Poland crossed for tries.

Dorking slipped back to fifth going down 15-5 at home to bottom of the table Guildford.

Harry Watts was the tryscorer for the home side against a penalty try and a score for Joe Garner for the visitors and a penalty from Ieuen James.

With Stags going down to Rochford Hundred, London Irish Wild Geese clawed four points back on the Civil Service side beating Sevenoaks 23-10 at Hazelwood Drive and are now just three points short of safety although the Stags have a game in hand.

Richie Townend and Chris West with two were the home scorers, Liam Prescott kicked two penalties and a conversion.

Scott Sedgwick crossed for the only try for the visitors converted by Ben Adams who also kicked a penalty. Brighton v Wimbledon and Tunbridge Wells v Tring were both called off leaving third-place Wimbledon with two games in hand over the top two, making for a very tense run in as the season moves into its latter stages.

As yet no dates have been announced for today's postponeme­nts although from earlier postponed fixtures Sevenoaks v Dorking and Tunbridge Wells v CS Stags are due to play next week 7th March and Tunbridge Wells v Wimbledon the week after.
