Get rid of gimmicks

- Dick Tyson

COULDN’T agree more with Colin Boag regarding Exeter Chiefs, Sale Sharks, Newcastle Falcons and all the other marketing name abominations that have appeared over the last few years in the leagues.

I well remember the tomahawk-wielding, head dress-bedecked, war cry-warbling Exeter tribe at the Premiership final last year. Oh how I laughed in my red Fez.

Later on in his article Colin wonders what happened to Saracens’ early rivals, the Crusaders. The answer is they merged with Saracens in 1879. If only the real Saracens and Crusaders had done the same thing. The world would be a much nicer place.
