I AM a Gloucester fan and have been since the 70s as a young man.

My fine club have been saved from potential relegation this season, but I hope this isn’t the first step towards ring-fencing the Premiership.

It would have felt very wrong if we had gone down at the end of the season if any club above us were ahead only because of ‘Covid’ points, but all clubs knew the rules at the start of the season.

I passionately believe in the integrity of our league system and therefore want, in perpetuity, relegation and promotion to remain intact.

A Bath fan asked me recently if I’d rather Gloucester be relegated but promotion and relegation retained forever, or see Gloucester saved but the league closed off. It’s the former.

No ring-fencing for me, even if that costs my club.
