Ton-up Exeter are still top of the class
EXETER UNIVERSITY have now scored over 100 points in two matches as they thrashed Old Centralians 66-10 at the Saintbridge Sports Centre.
Another dominant display saw the visitors score nine tries to secure the bonus-point win, with speedster Jevy Brown scoring a couple of consolation tries for the home side, who drop to ninth in the table. Dan Fry scored two tries to help Old Redcliffians up to second after a 38-12 bonus-point win against
Drybrook, who failed to build upon their openingday draw and now sit third bottom.
Other scorers for the hosts saw Andy Butler and Ezra Craven cross the whitewash, with speedster Donald Farmer also scoring a brace.
Meanwhile, third-place
Exmouth snatched victory from the jaws of defeat as they overcame Launceston 31-25 on their travels to make it back-to-back wins.
The hosts had led 25-24 heading into the final few seconds after scores from Lloyd Duke, Tom Sandercock, James Tucker and Rupert Freestone.
However, Dave Bargent scored the decisive try in overtime for the visitors to complete his brace, with Gareth Walker, Max Keen and Henry Goldson also crossing.
There was also a great game at Chapel Gate as Tom Napier’s last-gasp try saw Bournemouth snatch a 30-27 win against Brixham.
Luca Firetto was the star man for the hosts, who are up to fourth, with Alan Manning touching down twice and Ben Kimber also scoring. But Napier was the hero, touching down from a scrum with seconds left, before Alex Sutherland added the conversion.
Newly-promoted Hornets also made it successive victories with a 29-17 bonus-point away win at Okehampton RFC to climb up to fifth.
Elsewhere, Weston-super-Mare bounced back from defeat last week with a 21-7 win against Ivybridge to move up to eighth with their visitors falling to the bottom.
Royal Wootton Bassett also bounced back from a disappointing opening weekend with a narrow 25-24 win against Camborne to climb up to ninth.
