Students rally to down lowly Camborne

FOLLOWING a week off, the South West Premier made a stunning return with top facing bottom in the main event.

Having won six from six – recording a bonuspoint in each game – Exeter University put a resolute Camborne to the sword with a 70-24 bonuspoint win. James Botterill scored four of the hosts ten tries with Alec Lloyd Seed, Jake Murray, Cam Bullard, Ed Thomas and Jack Hamilton also crossing. The visitors never gave up and scored three tries with Ben Priddey scoring two and TommyLee Southworth touching down one. Dan Rutter scored their other nine points from the tee.

Second-place Hornets also maintained their perfect record with a 42-18 bonus-point win against Bournemout­h, who dropped two places to sixth following the defeat.

Elsewhere, it's now three wins on the spin for third-place Exmouth as they overcame Brixham 48-19 in an entertaini­ng contest at the Imperial Recreation Ground.

The hosts ran in seven tries with Steve Pape and Jake Inglis both grabbing braces while Toby Papp, Ben Hawley and Lewis Green also scoring. The conversion­s and a rare drop-goal from George Meadows completed the hosts impressive tally.

It was a long afternoon for hosts Okehampton as they were beaten 50-37 by the thriving Old Redcliffia­ns, who move up to fourth in the table following only their second away win of the season, The visitors scored eight tries with Sam Rees, Dan Fry and Archie Payne also scoring braces, while Chris Pursall and Ellis Joseph both touched down single scores.

Western-Super-Mare now finds themselves up to fifth following a 21-11 away win against Drybrook. The try-scorers for the home side were Jack Curtis, Dan Lomax and star match Sam Fisher.

Also on the move up the table are Launceston following their impressive 32-25 win against the Old Centralian­s. Two tries from Ryan Westren got the hosts off to a flyer with further scores from Brandon Rowley and Adam Collins.

And finally, with club legend Matt Finn making his 250th appearance for the club, Ivybridge ripped up the form book and put their run of three losses behind them with a thrilling 56-21 win against
