Hull run riot with second-half blitz
HULL produced a scintillating second-half showing to blow Wharfedale away.
Playing with the wind, the visitors gave a good account of themselves in the first 20 minutes spurning an early shot at goal.
Hull, though, gradually worked their way upfield and, after 28 minutes, Ben Boothman powered over for a try. The conversion was missed, with Hull 5-0.
An infringement by Loma Kivalu leading to a yellow card allowed Wharfedale back into the game and a good try by Ryan Hamilton after 34 minutes made it 5-5.
Will Hall restored Hull’s lead after 36 minutes following good Hull pressure.
Coming back into the game, Tom Davidson converted for Wharfedale to make it 10-8 going in at the half-time break.
A superb second-half performance by Hull saw the floodgates open.
After 52 minutes, Hull elected a scrum rather than kicking a goal in front of the posts and saw Steve Johnson go over for a try converted by Reese Dean.
Another try by Mike Adlard made it Hull 228, before a fine break by Adlard then saw Keane Naylor go in for a try.
Further tries by Adlard – unconverted – and Kivalu, converted by Dean saw Hull finish worthy winners at 41-8.
