Tynedale no match for rampant Tigers

- By GEOFF ROBERTS

was a dominant performance by Sedge in wet and windy conditions at Park Lane.

Winger Jamie Harrison opened the scoring for the hosts after seven minutes when he received the ball on the right and broke through to score in a corner.

In a one-sided first half, it was Tigers’ captain Matt Riley with the second try after 12 minutes, when from a lineout he received the ball and powered over.

Three minutes later, Rhys Henderson finished off a slick move, and in the 20th minute, a catch and drive from a line-out resulted in a try for Matt Gallagher.

Fly-half Steve Collins finished the scoring in the first half when he converted his own try, breaking the line and diving under the posts.

The second half was more evenly balanced. Although, after 41 minON utes, Andy Riley broke through and ran 30 metres to add five points.

From then on it was a scrappy game, with errors on both sides as conditions worsened.

After a phase where Tynedale gained some ground, Ben Blackburn drove through from five metres to put Tynedale on the scoreboard.

Matty Outson converted, but there was still time for the impressive Henderson to show quick feet to score, with Collins converting.
