LEAGUE leaders Bargoed defeated Cross Keys 13-10 at Pandy Park, as they failed to claim a bonus-point victory for the first time this season.

The visitors were made to work hard for their win, with Keys leading 3-0 at the interval.

After the break, Josh Prosser levelled the scores with a penalty, then prop Alex Gardiner-Key scored a converted try to hand the visitors the lead.

The hosts struck back with a converted try from Mitchell Rankine, but it was Prosser who had the final say, landing a second penalty to seal the win.

Unbeaten Neath kept pace with Bargoed at the top of the table with a 20-10 victory over Ystrad Rhondda at The Gnoll.

The hosts did the damage in the first half, crossing for tries from Aaron Grabham, Scott Hicks and Kurtis Williams to lead 20-5 at the interval. The only points of the second half came courtesy of a try for Ystrad’s Sion Summers.

Bedwas claimed a close 25-19 victory away at Maesteg Harlequins, as they backed up their victory over Cross Keys from last weekend.

The visitors crossed for three tries through Craig Hudd, Aaron Billingham and Callaghan Smith. The hosts registered a penalty try and four penalties from the boot of Owen Howe.

Cardiff Met cruised to their third victory of the season with a 56-7 demolition of Glamorgan Wanderers at Cyncoed. The students ran in eight tries, with centre Bryn Goodall helping himself to a hat-trick, as fly-half Haydn Lidstone contributed 21 points.

Narberth’s excellent start to the season continued with a 16-0 victory away at Beddau. The West Walians sealed victory with a converted try.

Both Tata Steel versus Trebanos and Ystalyfera against Pontypool were postponed due to Covid-19 outbreaks.
