New head at George Pindar
Mr Leader starts in September
George Pindar School in Scarborough will have a new headteacher taking the reins from September.
Julian Leader is originally from Loughborough in Leicestershire and has lived in North Yorkshire for 24 years.
He is married with two children, aged 18 and 23.
Mr Leader served as a commissioned officer in the Royal Corps of Signals for five years prior to university.
He studied Geography at the University of Leeds before completing a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
Mr Leader has been teaching for 19 years and has worked in Harrogate, Middlesbrough and in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
He told The Scarborough News: “I’m very excited about being appointed as headteacher at George Pindar School.
“The post brings huge opportunities to work with a very dedicated, experienced and capable staff.
“My vision is to not only make George Pindar an outstanding school where students are provided with an exceptional educational experience, but to work collaboratively as a key strategic partner within the ‘Scarborough Pledge’ focusing on making real and targeted improvements to the lives and learning outcomes for our young people.”
A spokesperson from the school’s board of governors said: “The governors are very pleased and fortunate to have recruited someone of the calibre of Julian. He has been spending some time in the school and his positive approach and attitude has been well received. We are looking forward to working with him.”
