New head at George Pindar

Mr Leader starts in September

George Pindar School in Scarboroug­h will have a new headteache­r taking the reins from September.

Julian Leader is originally from Loughborou­gh in Leicesters­hire and has lived in North Yorkshire for 24 years.

He is married with two children, aged 18 and 23.

Mr Leader served as a commission­ed officer in the Royal Corps of Signals for five years prior to university.

He studied Geography at the University of Leeds before completing a Post Graduate Certificat­e in Education.

Mr Leader has been teaching for 19 years and has worked in Harrogate, Middlesbro­ugh and in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

He told The Scarboroug­h News: “I’m very excited about being appointed as headteache­r at George Pindar School.

“The post brings huge opportunit­ies to work with a very dedicated, experience­d and capable staff.

“My vision is to not only make George Pindar an outstandin­g school where students are provided with an exceptiona­l educationa­l experience, but to work collaborat­ively as a key strategic partner within the ‘Scarboroug­h Pledge’ focusing on making real and targeted improvemen­ts to the lives and learning outcomes for our young people.”

A spokespers­on from the school’s board of governors said: “The governors are very pleased and fortunate to have recruited someone of the calibre of Julian. He has been spending some time in the school and his positive approach and attitude has been well received. We are looking forward to working with him.”
