RNLI called out to assist swimmers

-

Just 24 hours after the RNLI issued a national warning about the dangers of swimming in the sea, Filey RNLI lifeboat crew were alerted to swimmers in difficulty on Tuesday afternoon. Shortly before 2pm, Humber Coastguard directly paged an “immediate launch” for Filey’s inshore lifeboat, Braund, following 999 calls that two children were in difficulty in the sea close to Filey Brigg. Filey RNLI Lifeguards and Filey Coast Rescue Team also attended. Thankfully, just as the lifeboat reached its launching site, reports were received that the children had safely returned to the beach so the lifeboat crewed by Sam Cross, Andy McKenzie and Vanessa Thomas was stood down.
