Flying boat is shown after town landing
As a follow up to the letters about the flying boat in Scarborough Harbour in the 1930s, my good friend and publisher David Fowler has found a photo of the Supermarine Scapa in our harbour. It’s of rather poor quality but one can see clearly it is sitting on the mud during low tide, looking rather forlorn.
It’s hard to imagine the designer of the Spitfire actually designed something so far removed from his greatest effort, the hare and the tortoise springs to mind. Malcolm Smith Osgodby Way, Scarborough
