The Derwent Valley BRIDGE Library is hosting a new series of talks.

Piers Dudgeon gave the first talk of the season on October 13 with ‘Stung by the Beauty: A Personal Discovery of the Literary Landscapes of Britain’. He evoked not only the landscapes that put our famous writers’ imaginations to flight but also spoke of his own stories of exploits on foot in some of the most beautiful and desolate places in the British Isles.

The first talk was wellattended – many thanks to everyone who turned out, the audience were very appreciative. Refreshments were served and Piers signed books and gave any donations from them to the community library. Many people asked if he could return at some future event. He illustrated his talk with breathtaking pictures, and explained how the natural world inspires many writers. Our thanks go to Piers for an enjoyable evening.

Each talk is £3 per person, the next talk is from Jane Lovering, ‘Stranger than Fiction’ on November 10, 7pm-9pm.
