Lots of love for birthday girl Mary on Valentine’s Day

-

A woman believed to be the oldest lady to be born and live all her life in Hunmanby celebrated her 90th birthday on Valentine’s Day. Mary Harland Anderson, of Fountayne Road, celebrated on Tuesday with a party at home with her friends and family.

Mary used to run the Hunmanby Gap cafe with her husband Jack, who sadly passed away in 1999. The couple also ran a B&B from their home for a number of years.

Jack also worked as a secu- rity officer at Butlins. The couple had three sons, Mike, Tony and Barry, who still live locally, with Mike in Hunmanby and Tony and Barry in Scarborough. Mary is also a grandma and great grandma.

Tony said: “Between us all we make sure she’s well looked after.

“We wanted her to have a special birthday and make a fuss of her.”

The family took a cake round for the birthday girl and the party went on for most of the day. Do you have a special event coming up? Email newdesk@jpress.co.uk or call us on (01723) 860100.
