WI meeting

-

East and West Ayton WI group met on a rather wet and cold night on Tuesday February 7 but plenty of members braved the cold. It was more than worth it to hear the talk by Debbie Mutton and see the beautiful slides.

Debbie, her husband and two other friends cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats in 16 days. She explained all about research prior to the trip as well as all the organisation, planning the backup party, the sleep-over and which daily way the group went. We saw how the group travelled on a daily plan watching the countryside they went through, seeing the wonderful views of trees, hillsides and along the riversides.

It was wonderful to see the different counties they cycled through and how often it was rather quiet along the way. Most of the time the weather was bright and dry apart from one day when it was pouring down. The scenery was wonderful with beautiful views.

The raffle prize winners were J Carter, L Richardson, W Banner and M McPherson. The competition winners were 1st E Race, 2nd H Whitehouse and 3rd N Pullen.

The next coffee morning will be on Monday February 21 at 10.30am at Betton Farm. The spring conference will at the Spa on Wednesday March 29. The Derwent group of WI’s spring meeting will be held on Thursday April 27 at 7pm at
