In­vite to an evening of world­wide cui­sine

Ro­tary event with TV stal­wart will help erad­i­cate dis­ease

The Ro­tary Club of Scar­bor­ough Cava­liers are or­gan­is­ing an in­ter­na­tional food tast­ing evening to help raise money to erad­i­cate po­lio world­wide. The evening will take place at St Au­gus­tine’s school on Satur­day March 11, and will be hosted by BBC jour­nal­ist and broad­caster Harry Gra­tion.

Doors open at 6.30pm, with Harry tak­ing to the stage at around 7.15pm for a 45-minute lively ad­dress.

There will be a bar sell­ing re­fresh­ments and in­ter­na­tional food served at 8pm with cui­sine from the Far East, Asia, South Amer­ica, as well as Europe.

Club Pres­i­dent, Jonathan Knight said : “Ro­tary, along with its part­ners, has re­duced po­lio cases by 99.9% glob­ally since the first pro­ject to vac­ci­nate chil­dren in the Philip­pines in 1979.

“Ro­tar­i­ans have helped im­mu­nise more than 2.5 bil­lion chil­dren against po­lio in 122 coun­tries and all the pro­ceeds raised from this evening will go to­wards the world­wide fight to end po­lio,” he added.

Ro­tary’s World Po­lio Day this year is on 24Oc­to­ber, 2017 and looks ahead to end­ing the dis­ease for good.
