WI meeting

The president, Margaret Smith, welcomed members and guests to the February meeting. Green heart badges were given to everyone and those members who had assisted with the green heart decorations for the village green were thanked.

This initiative had been spearheaded by Mary Richardson and Pauline Closier who were given a special thank you. Birthday cards were given to Lily Brookfield, Joyce Helliwell and Mary Mortonson. Members were reminded to sign lists to take part in a spring lunch, a trip to Esk Valley Theatre, the June outing and the spring council meeting.

We had also received an invitation to attend a WI meeting at Middleton in April. Following the business, Michael Pitt gave members an interesting and informative talk about Victorian medicines and treatments complete with some of the instruments used. Michael was thanked by Karen Hyatt. Delicious refreshments were served by Bridget Eldridge and Lesley Gray.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday March 14 when Charlie Heap will give a talk about how he started a bird of prey centre. All welcome.
