Park will be land of dragons
The regeneration of Filey Country Park is continuing at a pace with more exciting plans for its future being revealed. The Discover Filey Development Trust Ltd is overseeing the work and is hosting an upcoming event at the Filey Country park on Easter Saturday, April 15.
Chairman of the group, Paul Griffiths, told The Mercury: “People may be aware that we are regenerating the Filey country park for the benefit of locals, tourists, business, schools and local groups and artisans.
“This is a comprehensive and detailed plan to also improve habitat and facilities.
“The first stage of this development is the installation of a Dragon Ring outside classroom (designed using aspects of the myth of the Filey dragon) which is to be formally opened by the mayors of Scarborough and Filey on April 15.
“These are all very ambitious proposals which will benefit the area and locals and we are hoping to build up as much local enthusiasm as possible on the opening day.
“We are working closely with Scarborough Borough Council, Filey Town Council, Filey Brigg Ornithological Group (FBOG), Filey Sailing Club and many other local organisations on this project.”
The images show the plans for the site improvements and the proposed new Discovery Building which, it is hoped, will be built next year.
