Scalby Wives

-

There were 32 members of the Scalby Wives at a talk by Malcolm Smith entitled ‘Twenty-four years on the bench’. Malcolm became a magistrate in Sheffield, followed by a spell in Rotherham and finally in Scarborough, where he specialised in family matters.

Interestingly, Scarborough Magistrates Court covers the largest area in the country stretching from Staithes down to the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Doreen Brooke was the hostess and refreshments were served by Hilary Croall, Sue Attwood and Janet Lyon.

Members are reminded that on April 3 there will be a tombola for which gifts will be gratefully received.

Next Monday some members will be visiting the Grand Hotel, and the following week on April 3, there will be a talk on Bolivia by Maggie Bridge. This is the last meeting before the annual meeting on April 24.
