Could longer opening hours relieve crisis?

-

Since the introduction of managers to run our health services we have staggered from crisis to crisis.

Tony Blair tried throwing money at it – billions were spent.

Should the GP surgeries be closed, or fully booked, the unwell just went to A&E whatever the problem.

I believe we should revert to the system used before managers and open the GP surgeries at 8am and close at 6pm with medics in attendance all the day.

Already nurses have been introduced to check you over and decide if you should see a doctor, or use her expertise and prescribe suitable medicine.

That system will obviously increase the surgery cost.
