Among the nominees so far this year are:

Go Ape, Dalby

The business has been nominated in the Rural Award. Go Ape has been in Dalby Forest for 10 years now and just celebrated it’s 10th birthday in March.

Starting initially with just the adult Tree Top Adventure course and then expanding to Tree Top Junior and Forest Segway more recently.

It draws thousands of visitors to the area and into the forest every year and the company moto is to ‘Live Life Adventurously’.

Sarah Weatherill, Forever to Hold

Sarah founded her business in January and has, naturally, entered the New Business category. She got started after doing her own flowers for her wedding and got such great feedback she went into business.

She said: “We take pride in our work and no job is too much trouble, we listen to each bride’s individual tastes and requirements.”

“I have now built up my own business from scratch and I’m proud of what I have achieved.”

The Stables at Cross Butts

The Stables have entered the Tourism Award.

They say: “We are a family-run restaurant in Whitby, now employing around 40-50 people, bringing work to the local community.

“We have been working as a restaurant/wedding venue for 13 years. Previous to that we were farmers with an outstanding herd unfortunately lost due to the foot and mouth epidemic.

“We are now expanding all the time and hosting weddings most weekends in our converted barn, also hosting for its second year The Coastline Festival in our fields all in support of our local football club.”
