The search for a successor

REPLACEMENT

In a letter to parents Mr Read said of the search for his successor: “The recruitment process is already under way with the interview panel selected, of which I will be a member.

“The post will be advertised on September 1 and the interviews will take place on October 10 and 11.

“This will then allow over a two month lead-in period before the new headteacher takes up the post at the start of Spring Term 2018.”

The new headteacher will not be responsible for any new schools that join the Scalby Learning Trust. of those.

“Schools have approached us about joining the trust,” Mr Read said.

“For us it is now about expansion, it’s about quality and wanting to improve the education provision locally.

“Schools have been approaching us and we have been talking but are not in a position to announce anything at this time.”

Looking back on his seven years at Scalby School, Mr Read said that the change in the school’s reputation was his proudest achievement.

He added: “When I was appointed the school was in special measures. It had come out by the time I actually started but it was still recovering.

“I remember that the school was not full, we had spare places for children which showed that parents did not want to send their children to Scalby.

“Now, each year we always have a pretty full waiting list.

“That shows that people now think we are a good school and are somewhere they want to send their children.

“Gaining the support of the community and their trust is the most important thing to me.”

Mr Readsaid he would miss the day-to-day role of his current job.
