Pop star backs charity to win National Lottery Award

-

A famous face is joining a charity’s bid for a National Lottery Award. Ruddi’s Retreat provides much-needed holidays for families suffering from the effects of cancer treatment, life limiting illnesses and bereavement. Singer and actress Suzanne Shaw is supporting Ruddi’s Retreat and met Ruddi, pictured with his mum Ali Waterworth, at Primrose Valley on July 25 to encourage people to vote for the project in the awards. When Ruddi was only six months old he was diagnosed with a rare cancer. Following a year of intensive treatment including a threemonth stint in an American hospital, Ruddi finally went into remission. For the two years while Ruddi was battling through the effects of chemotherapy and all that comes with it, Candlelighters Charity kindly gave Ruddi and his family a one-week holiday at Primrose Valley Caravan Park. It was this holiday that inspired Ruddi’s mum Ali Waterworth to set up Ruddi’s Retreat and the charity now owns two caravans at the Filey site to provide free holidays.

The project is one of seven finalists in the Health category of the National Lottery Awards. People can vote for Ruddi’s Retreat to win the award by going online to http://bit.ly/2tBCtsX
