Today’s the day teddy bears ...
Children invited to take cuddly toy to music sessions at Spa
The Scarborough Spa Orchestra return this summer with the Teddy Bears’ Picnic Concerts which will be held in the Sun Court.
They will be held each Monday morning at the Spa complex from July 6 to August 31.
The concerts are aimed principally at pre-school children and toddlers, but last year adults continued to join the audience in large numbers to enjoy their music with a rather different scene.
Teddy Bears’ Picnics are devised and presented by Kathy Seabrook.
The flautist with the Spa Orchestra, Kathy is well known throughout the area and beyond for her outstanding work with young people.
“Her bubbly enthusiasm soon gets the youngsters completely caught up in the music as they clap along to the rhythms, sing along to the familiar tunes, dance or march around the Spa Sun Court, play musical games, and even take turns in playing the instruments,” said a spokesman.
The adult audience still hears a Spa Orchestra morning concert, but with the added entertainment of seeing the youngsters learning how to appreciate and involve them- selves in the joys of music.
“The Sun Court was packed out for every Teddy Bears’ Picnic last year. There’s no doubt that the crowds will flock in again this year, young and old, for this unique event,” said the spokesman.
Doors open at 10.30am and the show starts at 11am. Tickets are £3.
