Designing a new career course

-

Students at YCC get to take advantage of numerous facilities which still includes the Theatre in the Round, the Underground Music Institute, a photography studio and specialist studios for printing, ceramics, graphic design and fashion.

Throughout their training their is also the chance to take part in shows, events and competitions and recently a number of students took part in the Cultural and Creative Finals of Matchfit where they took first place in the photography, acting, drawing, singer songwriter, popular music bands and art competitions.

In recent years, music students have even performed at Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre, where they have supported some of the world’s leading artists including McBusted, Katherine Jenkins and Leona Lewis. Sophie Norris, got the chance to support Jessie J, and has performed at BT London Live in Hyde Park, before returning to YCC to train for the Level 4 Artist Development Programme.

She said: “I decided to study music because it’s passion and my hobby, studying at YCC has given me so much more confidence and made me believe in my music. I’ve loved the fact that the tutors had experience in the music business themselves.”

We are now offering a Foundation Diploma in art and design, which is required by most established Art Schools for entry to Higher Education and is an ideal bridge between A Levels or Level 3 study and an undergraduate art and design programme at university.

If you choose to carry on your studies with Higher Education we offer a HNC/ HND in performing arts, a BA (Hons) fine art and BA (Hons) historical and performance costume for stage and screen, one of the few places in the UK that offers the programme.

So why not take that leap and start your journey towards career success with YCC this summer by finding out about enrolment.
