Annual show

-

The gardening club’s 33rd annual show took place in Brompton by Sawdon Village Hall on Sunday afternoon. The event was a great success and a credit to the hardworking team of organisers. The hall was beautifully set out with displays of fruit, vegetables, fruit and flowers, and the cookery section offered all sorts of tasty delicacies as well as homemade alcohol!

Outside, the village square had been turned into a colourful market with stalls selling plants, cards, bunting and bric-a-brac plus gifts sold in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice and Mencap. A tombola, and teas were also available while music was provided by Mr Middleton with his fairground organ. The weather was balmy for once and visitors were able to sit outside of the hall which added to the pleasant atmosphere of the event.

The show was organised by the Brompton by Sawdon and District Gardening Club led by the chairman, Anne Deehan, who also presented the prizes, and in particular, Sandra Harrison the show secretary. Many other members of the club also gave of their time over the weekend to help organise and mount the show.
