Westland AC stalwart Colin McNeil carried on where he left off when he followed up his previous week’s noteworthy double with another convincing win at the club’s Tuesday match staged over 12 pegs on Little Tench Lake at Westlands.

His 95lb 8oz finish from peg six was a very comfortable 36lb ahead of his nearest rival and he crowned another rewarding week with a second place behind winner Phil Roberts’ 79lb 14oz, albeit dropping short by just over 13lb during the club’s 11 peg Friday excursion to Raker’s Highbank Lake.

Closer to home, Paul Dawson also continued his winning ways with another victory in the Contemptible Tuesday Evening League after romping home with a creditable three-hour total of 41lb 12oz from peg 22 at Wykeham Carp Lake.

His endeavours with paste hookbaits offered via the pole at 11 metres straight out and tight against the lily pad over potted in micro pellets resulted in locating seven carp, including quality specimens to 8lb together with a similar number of crucian carp to 1lb.

With just two fixtures remaining his lead of 29 points in the league is now out of reach of his nearest rivals Steve Leydon, Barry Penrose and Brian Hewitt who appear to be the only other members in a position to compete for the runner-up spot. Result: 1. Paul Dawson 41-12-0 from peg 22; 2. Dave Stawman 15-8-0, peg 9; 3. S.Leydon 11-00, peg 26; 4. P.Joy 10-2-0, peg 5; 5. A.Wilson 7-11-0, peg 12; 6. B.Penrose 5-14-0, peg 1.
