Motorhomes dispute

-

I am delighted to confirm that the current restriction on motorhomes parking overnight at Sandsend A174 and Royal Albert Drive, Scarborough, will be lifted as the stated reason of “preventing a sea view” is madness.

Vehicles are parked under a cliff at Royal Albert Drive and there are no houses to obstruct a view at Sandsend. Apart from a few hours in summer, it is dark and thus no sea view! The lunatics have taken over the asylum.

Any attempt by the council to ban motorhomers would fail a judicial review in the courts.

Why are motorhomers seen as a negative? There are 250,000 motorhomes in the UK. Business in Scarborough and Whitby is on a downward spiral.

Has the light gone on yet? Those 250,000 motorhomers can bring all year round business to Scarborough and Whitby.

North Yorkshire County Council and Scarborough Borough Council need to stop wasting time and tax payers’ money attempting to convince residents that a sea view can be had when it is dark.

They should focus on supporting business in Whitby and Scarborough.

Instead of accelerating the decline of local business by banning tourists, they should welcome motorhomers.

I would be happy to work with the county and borough councils to save the local economy. I am in a position to achieve this.

Motorhomers are the solution not the issue. Andy Strangeway,
