Colleges celebrate successes
Pupils are now looking forward to university
Scarborough Sixth Form College is proud to announce 100 percent pass rates for nearly all of its B TE C courses. Plus Scarborough College results.
Students in the Upper Sixth at Scarborough College are celebrating another superb year with an average points score equivalent to an A* and two A grades at A Level, in terms of university entrance currency.
An annual July publication date allows International Baccalaureate students to relax over the summer safe in the knowledge that their university places are secure well before the A Level results day in mid August.
International Baccalaureate students study six subjects throughout the two years of the course, rather than only three at A Level, including maths, a foreign language, English and at least one science.
Such breadth allows students to access a great many more courses at university and to therefore keep their options very much open beyond their GCSEs.
Students at Scarborough College will be going on to study an eclectic mix of courses ranging from medicine to acting, and from agriculture to international relations.
Headmaster, Charles Ellison, said: “We are all delighted by today’s remarkable results which pay testimony to the ceaseless hard work of students and staff.
“Once again the International Baccalaureate has proven to be an ideal academic platform from which to access the most competitive courses at the most prestigious universities in the UK and beyond.
“Increasingly, universities are hunting out International Baccalaureate students to make offers to, as they have clearly proven themselves over time to make the most successful undergraduates, not least due to the essence of critical thinking, academic independence and high personal organisation that the International Baccalaureate instills in all who study it.”
The students of Scarborough College were looking forward to their next stage of their lives as they gathered together for the final time to get their results.
More than 4,000 schools so far have chosen to teach International Baccalaureate programmes.
The courses are offered to students in more than 150 countries.
