Sci-Fi event will welcome Garrick Hagon of Star Wars

Sci-Fi Scarboroug­h will return for its fourth year with a magical mix of guests, authors, movie and TV props, retro and table top gaming.

The first guest announced for next year’s event is Star Wars actor Garrick Hagon who played Biggs Darklighte­r, the best friend of Luke Skywalker who introduced him to the Rebellion.

Garrick Hagon was born in London and grew up in Canada.

After seasons at Canada’s Shakespear­e Festival and years of TV and film in North America, he returned to London to work in Theatre.

As well as Star Wars: A New Hope, his films have included RED II, Tim Burton’s Batman, Spy Game, Me and Orson Welles, Black Book, La Vie En Rose, A Bridge Too Far, The Spy Who Loved Me and Charlton Heston’s Antony and Cleopatra.

Recently he has filmed with Kenneth Branagh on Wallander and appears in Stephen Frears’ new film, Florence Foster Jenkins. Garrick has been in Dr Who in two millennium­s-as Ky in The Mutants and Abraham in A Town Called Mercy.

He has read or directed over 200 audiobooks and with his wife, actress Liza Ross, runs his audio production company, The Story Circle.

Sci-Fi Scarboroug­h coorganise­r Steve Dickinson said: “Garrick is a perfect first guest for us to announce. He is an important part of Star Wars folklore. Wait until you see who else we have lined up for next April!”

The event runs from Saturday April 8 from 10am-6pm with the geek pub quiz, party and live music from 6.30pm, and Sunday April 9, 10am6pm. Day tickets £15 (under 12s £5, students £10).Weekend £25 under 5s go free.
