JOLLY GREEN GIANTS
Green-fingered stars gathered to collect their certificates at the All Muck and Magic Gardens Competition 2016.
The event at the Spa was attended by more than 300 people and awards were presented by the deputy mayor of Scarborough, Cllr Martin Smith.
Barrowcliff School were crowned Best Green-fingered School Gardeners but all the youngsters went away with certificates and prizes for their efforts.
Among the many winners were newcomers to the competition St Michael’s Hotel which scooped a gold medal in the small hotels class and the volunteers from the Derwent Valley Bridge Library who were crowned Muck and Magic Community Garden champions.
There were also a number of winners from Hunmanby including Hungate Court, The Market Cross, Vi’s garden and the Cottage Garden at the rear of The Southgate B&B.
Janet Jefferson, chairman of Scarborough in Bloom, said: “It was a marvellous event. Every year is just gets better and better. Entries were outstanding this year which made judging difficult.”
