A warm welcome

-

Scarborough Probus Club is a club for retired business or professional people who would like to enjoy the company of like-minded people in retirement. The club is all inclusive regardless of age or gender, meeting twice each month on the first and third Tuesday in the month, other than August when our meeting venue at the Quaker Meeting Place is closed.

We meet at 10am for coffee and biscuits, and then have a presentation from invited speakers on a wide variety of subjects, including the odd musical event when friends and partners of members are welcome to come along to enjoy the morning.

We have a couple of trips out each year plus a summer and a Christmas lunch at midday, once again all partners invited. We would love to see new members, particularly lady members, and cordially invite anyone interested to come along on any meeting day when they can be assured of a warm welcome and can see for themselves how events take place.

The dates for the rest of this year and speakers are:

October 18 - Diane and Derek Edwards will be giving the latest news on their charity work in Tanzania, a fascinating and worthwhile project with accompanied video.

November 1 - Chris Bull will be giving part two of his previous presentation; an explanation of human behaviour, interesting, humorous and one to make you think.

November 15 - John Dickenson, a club member, is giving a talk entitled ‘A Local Hero, Lost the Re-discovered’.

December 6 - Alan Combes, local author and club member, ‘My Life as a Teacher Part Two’ - a humorous and fascinating account of life in academia.

December 20 - Bill Scott with be conducting the Scarborough Choir complete with sing along, all welcome.

And finally, the Christmas lunch on December 21 at the Park Manor Hotel to round off the year.

If you have retired and are sat at home wondering what to do with your spare time, come along and meet new friends, the welcome is assured.
