College can engineer a bright future for young people
There has never been a more exciting time to get in to engineering. The industry as a whole in our area is set to grow so there are many exciting opportunities in the pipeline – and that means there is a future need for skilled engineers.
Our engineering courses are designed to allow you to gain the vital skills needed to succeed. Our industry standard work spaces boast conventional and computer controlled machines, a computer aided design suite, excellent welding facilities and an electronics laboratory.
You will get the chance to learn all aspects of the industry as all courses adopt a multi-discipline approach to engineering which can help you to decide which branch of engineering you would like to follow.
Yorkshire Coast College has an excellent proven record of success in its engineering apprenticeship provision, providing young people with Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships that consistently place us at a success rate 20 per cent above the national average.
We work closely with engineering companies to promote career opportunities in a number of engineering disciplines. Structured training in theoretical and practical skills at a high level adds real value in providing competences needed to succeed at work.
Apprentices are, without doubt, an important and growing group of learners who are increasingly looking towards higher education as demand for higher level skills and workforce development increasingly grows. YCC is committed to ensuring its apprenticeships challenge and prepare our young people for the commercial world.
A good way to find out about our engineering provision at Yorkshire Coast College is to visit us at Engineering Week at Scarborough Spa, Thursday October 13, 4.30–6pm. Speak with tutors and students and also have a go with our virtual welder and other engineering-based activities.
Alternatively, visit one our campuses and find out all about college life. Come along to our next open evening on Thursday November 24, 5–7.30pm: meet the tutors, talk to students, watch demonstrations and try practical sessions in realistic environments in our workshops, training kitchens, salons and studios.
