Cast prepares for musical premiere
of mystery and intrigue featuring some hauntingly beautiful and catchy songs.
“Trapped in his life on the Yorkshire Wolds’ smallholding Summer’s Edge, Cole isn’t impressed when city-girl Pia arrives for a holiday with her father. When Cole reopens a long-forgotten well, dark secrets are revealed and everything he holds dear is threatened.”
Bobby Moore, who plays Cole said: “He feels stuck in a rural life where nothing happens.
“He doesn’t know that the land of Summer’s Edge and its ancient yew tree contain faerie magic. But when the ghosts start running wild, the world he finds safe and predictable becomes full of danger.”
Josephine Pimm, who performs in Summer’s Edge, said: “I play Rosamund, who brings a lot of humour to the story. She’s a ghost from centuries past who suddenly finds herself released in the present day.
“She’s so much fun to play. It’s a thrill to be part of such an exciting company and performing in the round.”
John Pattison said: “We are delighted to be working with the support of the staff and students at the Scarborough School of Arts (Yorkshire Coast College) to produce a musical full of quirky humour and unearthly shadows.”
Designing the sets and costumes for Summer’s Edge is Michael Roberts who will transform the theatrein-theround into a Yorkshire Wolds small-holding.
The finished costumes will be produced by students studying at The Scarborough School of Arts.
Michael said “It is exciting to be working with the students at the School of Arts bringing my designs to the stage. The world and characters in Summer’s Edge all have a distinctive look. We have people from the world of faeries and ghosts from the 17th century, each with their own particular style.”
