A new pub, the Tunny Catch and Generous George restaurant, in the heart of Scarborough’s North Bay is set to open its doors later this month.

A new pub in the heart of Scarborough’s North Bay is set to open its doors later this month.

Marston’s is adding the finishing touches to The Tunny Catch in the car park of the new £14 million Alpamare waterpark in Burniston Road.

Permission for the pub was granted in August 2013 as part of the wider waterpark development and work began as the finishing touches to the attraction were being completed.

The company claims that 50 jobs would be created as a result of the pub opening, which is due to take place before the end of October.

A spokesman for Marston’s said: “The Tunny Catch, which is being built by Marston’s Inns and Taverns, will cater for 150 diners.

“The pub will be part of the Generous George concept and will offer an extensive food and drink menu including an interactive Pizza Station and Ice Cream Parlour, Bostin’ Burgers, George’s Chicken Shack and more.

“To wash it all down, the bar will be stocked with a large selection of guest and cask ales, wines, spirits and soft drinks – something for everyone.”

The pub follows on from the Marston’s built Penny Hedge in Whitby, which opened in last year and has proved very popular with local residents.

Mark Charlton, area operations manager for Marston’s Inns and Taverns added: “We’re extremely excited about The Tunny Catch and hope when opened it will build a great reputation locally.

“Offering top quality, value for money pub food and an unrivalled selection of drinks, including cask ales from across the country.”

The pub could be followed by an 82-bedroom hotel next door on the car park.
