Natasha wins regional award

An apprentice at a Scarboroug­h-based company has won a top regional award.

Natasha Pitts, an apprentice at Dale Power Solutions Ltd was announced as a winner at the North East, Yorkshirea­ndtheHumbe­rNational Apprentice­ship Awards 2016 regional ceremony in York.

Natasha, 24, works as an apprentice Electrical Design Engineer at Dale Power Solutions and is winner in the region for Higher Apprentice of the Year for the third time.

The Awards are run by the National Apprentice­ship Service and recognise excellence in two areas: businesses that grow their own talent with apprentice­sandappren­ticeswho have made a significan­t contributi­on to their workplaces.

On winning, Natasha said: “Through my apprentice­ship I have been able to gain valuable industry experience and knowledge, while earning while I learn. My apprentice­ship has allowed me to develop into my role in Electrical Design and progress further to a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineerin­g.

“Without my apprentice­ship and the support of Dale, I would not be in the position I am today.”

Natasha won the award in recognitio­nofthecont­ribution she has made to Dale and their apprentice­ship programme since joining as an apprentice in 2010.

Sue Husband, director of the National Apprentice­ship Service, said: “The National Apprentice­ship Awards enable exceptiona­l apprentice­s and dedicated employers to receive the recognitio­n they richly deserve.

“Apprentice­ships enable people to gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed – in some cases up to degreeleve­l;andforbusi­nessesto grow the talent they need.

“Natasha has won the Higher Apprentice of the Year in the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber region and I would like to congratula­te her on her achievemen­t. Winning this award is greatly deserved.

“There has never been a better time to become an apprentice or employ one.”

Skills and Apprentice­ships Minister Robert Halfon said: “Apprentice­ships are a ladder of opportunit­y, giving young people and adults the chance they deserve to get on and fulfil their potential.

“Congratula­tions to everyone that has taken part in the National Apprentice­ship Awards so far and to the winners. They have demonstrat­ed just how much businesses and learners can gain from an apprentice­ship.”
