From 15 to 79 ... all set for eighth 10k

More than 2,000 people aged from 15 to 79 will take part in the eighth annual McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k and Family Fun Run this weekend.

The event will take place on Sunday October 30 with the 10k run kicking off at the Scarboroug­h Spa.

The course will follow Scarboroug­h’s coastline, from South Bay, around the Marine Drive and through the Open Air Theatre and onto the Sea Life Centre where they return bia the North Bay promenade to finish back at the Spa,

The main road race is fol- lowed by the very popular 1.6km (1 mile) Family Fun Run at 11.30am, followed by a slightly longer 2.5km Fun Run.

People can sign up to the fun run on the day for just £1 but entries are now closed for the 10k.

The chosen charity for the event this year is Yorkshire Coast homes which has offered free entry to the fun run for a number of schools and clubs in the community.

More than 200 children have been offered the chance to take part in this year’s McCain Yorkshire Coast Family Fun Run for free, thanks to Yorkshire Coast Homes. Following its invitation, children from more than 10 schools and clubs in the area, including West Heslerton, Cayton Corinthian­s Junior FC, Descipline Martial Arts club, Gladstone Road, Northstead, Newby & Scalby, Friarage and Seamer and Irton have signed up.
