Family’s shock at tragedy of boy, 4
A family has been left devastated after a four-year-old boy died in a tragic accident at his home in Scarborough. Maison Hirstle was playing with his brothers when his coat hood caught the handle of the front door, knocking the youngster unconscious.
Older brother TJ, aged 16, carried Maison to father James who desperately performed emergency resuscitation on his son at their Pavilion Square home in an attempt to revive him. An ambulance rushed Maison
him. An ambulance rushed Maison to Scarborough Hospital where the family learned, due to a lack of oxygen, he had suffered severe brain damage.
He was taken to intensive care where his family members were told the heartbreaking news that he would not make it and were asked to say their final goodbyes.
Family friend Lianne White, 29, told The Scarborough News: “A freak accident has taken away a very special little boy from our family. He has left a massive hole in all of our hearts. It is utterly heartbreaking and nothing will ever replace the life we lost.”
Barrowcliff pupil Maison was a “cheeky chap” who loved playing with his brothers TJ, Darcy, 11, Preston, five and Exley, two.
“He was cute and always smiling and he will be missed immensely by everyone,” said Lianne.
“Maison loved playing with his brothers. He and Preston were absolutely inseparable. We’re all hurting from this.”
Lianne set up a Just Giving page following the incident last Friday. People can donate towards Maison’s headstone in the hope of raising £5,000.
Just 24 hours later, after appealing for help on social media, the target had been smashed.
Now the total is approaching the £6,000 mark with Maison’s family “overwhelmed” by the public’s support. Any additional money will be put towards Maison’s funeral.
Lianne said: “On behalf of the family, we are moved by the generosity of everyone and are so grateful to everyone.” Members of the public can donate online at http :// bit. ly/2erelXF or in person at Caddies in Barrowcliff.
