Ladies guild

Fifteen members were present at the October meeting of Rillington and District Ladies Guild held in Woodlands Community Centre. Caroline Neuff introduced the evening’s speaker and also proposed the vote of thanks.

The evening’s hostesses were Babs Buckley and Sue Butler. Judy Duke sold tickets for the raffle which was won by Jacquelyn Wood. Judy also chaired the business meeting which followed. Sue Donnell distribute­d copies of the programme of speakers for 2017.

At the November meeting Adam Collier will entertain with an ‘Evening of Dialect’.

Committee meeting

The inaugural meeting of Rillington Recreation Ground Committee held in the Coach and Horses was attended by six residents. The following officials were elected: chairman Darren Flinton, secretary Rob Snowden and treasurer Gary Waters.

The next meeting will be held in the Coach and Horses on Tuesday November 8 at 7.30pm.

Over 60s club

Eric Copeland presented the prizes at the Over Sixties Club meeting held in the village hall to: whist - Marjorie Grice, Kath Samples, Jean Gill and Audrey Croft; dominoes - Margaret King, Eric Copeland and Robin King. Raffle prizes were won by Marjorie Grice, Margaret King, Robin King and Eric Copeland.

Whist drive

V Warters presented the prizes at a progressiv­e whist drive held in Woodlands Community Centre to J Scarce, V Warters, M Jeffery, R King, A Hoggarth, K Samples and D Warters.

Raffle prizes were won by E Copeland, A Gaughan and M King.

Quiz night

Seven teams playing for £48 prize money took part in Mike Williams’ general knowledge quiz in the Fleece Inn. The winners with 74 points were Team at the Bar, second were Weaverthor­pe Four (73) and third Back Touchers (69). The £12 jackpot was won by The Who.

Mike’s next quiz in the Fleece will be on Friday November 4 at 9pm.

Jennie’s Sunday night quiz at the Fleece was won by Gary’s Team with the jackpot being won by Sue’s Crew.

Spiritual evening

A Spiritual X Change evening with Sue Warren and Diane Whiteley will be held in the Fleece Inn on Friday November 11 from 7pm. Tickets are £10 and are available from the Fleece Inn.
