Quiz night

-

The appalling weather conditions did not deter the 75 participants who took part in the quiz in the village hall to raise funds for Derwent Valley BRIDGE Community Library.

Alan Combes set the questions and had everyone wracking their brains in teams of four as Rob played music from the ‘60s and ‘70s and kept score.

Everyone enjoyed a delicious cooked supper prepared by library volunteers. All the teams were named after birds. The winning team was the Kite team (Judy and Phil Trafford; Janet and John Ward) with Hawk and Harrier teams taking second and third places. The Kestrel team won the coveted wooden spoon award to loud applause. The sum of £563 was raised to help with the continued running costs of the community library.

A big thank you to Alan, Rob, all the helpers and the residents of Snainton and the surrounding villages who turned out in force to make it such a great night.

The Reading Room Library in Main Street is run by Snainton volunteers in conjunction with the parish council and Derwent Valley BRIDGE. It is open twice a week on Tuesdays 10am-12.30pm and Fridays 4pm-6.30pm. There are 200 books available to borrow including children’s books, large print, autobiographies and fiction. If the book that you want is not available then it can be requested via Derwent Valley BRIDGE and delivered to the Reading Room.
