Scarborough Athletic boss Steve Kittrick is confident his side can stem the recent tide of disappointing results.

Boro have tailed off over the past few months and they now look to be an outside shot for a berth in the EvoStik North play-offs.

Tuesday night’s North Riding FA Senior Cup defeat against derby rivals Pickering Town added to their woes and brought a less-than-happy response from the travelling supporters.

Kittrick said: “Firstly I would like to apologise for my team’s performance on Tuesday against Pickering Town, it was totally unacceptable.

“At this moment in time a few of the players are struggling with their own performances, and this is clearly rubbing off on others because we are suffering from a run of poor results.

“This is something I addressed on Tuesday after the game and the players know my thoughts.”

Boro return to action on Saturday when they travel to league leaders Lancaster City.

City have lost just three of their 15 home games this season and sit nine points clear of second-placed Farsley.

Kittrick added: “We have 11 league games and the cup quarter-final to play, we have to stick together dig deep and work hard, I know the performances will come back as individuals and as a team.

“From my perspective Saturday is a great opportunity to put things right.

“I would also like to thank all the fans for their continuing support. I know it’s very frustrating at this time but if we all stick together it will come right again.”
