HAWKS SOAR TO WIN AGAINST HUNMANBY

-

Heslerton Hawks Under-14s and Hunmanby Juniors put on a decent show, with both sides playing some attractive football as the Hawks won 2-0. In an even first half the Hawks just edged it, with Tom Allan showing his quality.

It was his chipped pass which allowed Jayden Isaac to strike home the first after a goalless first-quarter.

With chances exchanged by both teams, Ihsan Eroglu and Izzy Garnett excelled in defence for the Hawks, who were tested throughout by a high-quality forward line.

After the break the Hawks’ bench made the difference, the introduction of fresh legs giving the visitors the advantage.

Despite a battling performance from Hunmanby, the Hawks were able to take home the points, with Brad Spiller netting his first goal of the season with his very first touch.

Scalby Under-14s visited Whitby Fishermen in an entertaining top-of-the-table clash at Caedmon School.

Scalby raced into a 2-0 lead after 15 minutes, firstly Jake Reeves scored a left-foot shot into the bottom corner and Reuben Staveley’s long-range shot took a small deflection that was enough to beat the Whitby keeper.

Fishermen pulled a goal back just before half-time and it was deserved as they put the pressure on the Scalby goal.

Whitby scored two quick goals after the break to go 3-2 up.

One of these was a very well-worked goal which proved to be the winner was a header at the far post from the Whitby winger.

Scalby did almost everything

but score the equaliser in the second half as William Whiteside and Olly Backhouse had good games for the Otters. Heslerton Juniors Under-14s put in a workmanlike performance to come out on top 3-1 against a gritty Newlands Park side. Roman Butterfield opened the scoring when put through by Ollie Stanton, but early in the second period Newlands equalised with a penalty.

Tyler Green then restored the lead for the Blues, set up by Tom Stockdale, before man of the match Butterfield fed Olaf Mazur to score the third in the final minute of the game.

Heslerton Under-Nines Buccaneers travelled to

Scalby Otters.

Ben Whitaker-Ellis was in goal for the Buccaneers, with Oliver Sim and Oskar Olsen in defence.

Shaun Isaac, Matthew Banister and Jack Boyes were in midfield with William Leeson playing up front.

Two goals from man of the match Isaac and one from Bannister saw a fantastic game of football end allsquare.

Game two saw Bannister get the man of the match award.
