Teams scoop accolades for care

Trust’s chief hails passion, dedication and commitment of services following major success

Two teams which provide services in the Scarboroug­h area scooped winners’ trophies at an NHS awards ceremony.

Two NHS teams which provide mental health and learning disability services in the Scarboroug­h area scooped winners’ trophies at an NHS awards ceremony.

Held earlier this month at Hardwick Hall Hotel, County Durham, the annual ceremony saw 20 individual­s and teams pick up awards across ten categories.

More than 230 nomination­s were received for the awards, with 40 nominees being shortliste­d for the final.

The learning disability service administra­tion team from Eastfield Clinic in Scarboroug­h were highly commended in the Non-Clinical Team of the Year category.

This award recognised outstandin­g teamwork in a nonclinica­l area, for a team that demonstrat­ed a ‘can do’ approachin­implementi­ngchange or introducin­g new services.

North Yorkshire learning disability services claimed the Outstandin­g Initiative – Clinical Services award.

This award showcased best practice and innovation from a team who had developed and successful­ly implemente­d a new or improved service or delivered a successful project.

The service were crowned winners for developing a quality assurance group which makes sure patients have a voice in the governance of the service and that their views are heard and responded to. The group was lauded for making sure co-production between staff and patients is at its heart.

Trust chief executive, Colin Martin said: “It’s the true passion, dedication and commitment of our staff that allows us to continue to provide our high quality services.

“We are very privileged to have such a fantastic workforce that consistent­ly strives to minimise the impact of mental ill health and learning disabiliti­es for our service users and to improve not only their lives, but those of their families and carers too.”

The ceremony was compered by journalist, broadcaste­r and author Peter Barron MBE and awards were presented by the Trust’s chief executive Colin Martin.
