ANNE TAYLOR ACADEMY OF DANCE In the nominations for the Young Entertainers category, are 15 pupils from the

Anne Taylor Academy of Dance. They were selected by examiners to attend the British Association of Teachers of Dancing Freestyle Scholarships in Glasgow in March.

The pupils were selected from thousands of pupils from around the UK. They reached the top 69 for seniors and top 74 for juniors. The students have worked so hard to be prepared for the day.

Some pupils were selected for callbacks as examiners were looking to award scholarships.

Each of them were fantastic and were a credit to the ST AUGUSTINE’S JAZZ ORCHESTRA academy and the town. Big thanks go to teachers Anne Taylor, Angela Lawton and Cherie Welburn for helping all the pupils achieve the best they can.

Also nominated in the Young entertainers category is St Augustine’s Jazz Orchestra who love playing together and have gone from strength to strength, especially with the superb performances in the last year with some amazing events in Scarborough, Yorkshire and Europe.

Last year they performed at Sewerby Hall, Scarborough town centre, Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the Evian Music Festival and an arts festival in Lausanne, both in France. EMILY HINCHLIFFE Plus ... in the Young Volunteer category, there is Emily Hinchliffe who has selflessly helped, advised and guided young people who are undertaking their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award at least two evenings a week after school for the last six months.

Also in the Young Volunteer category is Danny Buckley – a volunteer at the Rainbow Centre and attends every school holiday. He helps so willingly and enthusiastically with all tasks he is asked to do. He wants to help people who are struggling and experiencing difficulties in different ways. He is a brilliant example for his peers and is a real role model to young people.
